Everybody who likes Led Zeppelin raves about this set. Led Z fan. Gotta have it. Lots of entertainment for the money. If you don't have it, GET IT.
Some real good sound and picture quality going on here. Also some scenes and interesting camera angles that made it more interesting than the run-of-the-mill "rockumentary". Jimmy Page is an extraordinary guitarist no doubt, but I thought a little too much attention was given to his constant hyper-speed attack on his guitar rather than his ability to reach the listener with true music - I guess that's what he thought we wanted playing live. That being my only complaint, it should be a double disc DVD dream come true for a hard-core Led Zep fan.
Hard to review. I ordered it over a month ago, and it hasn't arrived yet.
It makes me crave to go back in time, to be a teenager again and to live in those moments. This is music that never ages. I grew up in the '60s and '70s but was forbidden to listen to rock music and missed out on hearing Zep (with the exception of at my senior prom where my soul came alive to 'Stairway to Heaven'). The wonderful thing is that my teenage daughter not only likes Zep, but it is almost mandatory in her high school to be a fan.
I never got to rock out in my younger days but I am making up for it now. I begged my husband for this DVD and it was the best Valentine's gift I ever got. What I wouldn't give to have a time machine and be in those crowds where I SHOULD have been, watching and screaming in sheer amazement at the magic before me. I have always been a huge fan of his drumming (he is my favorite of the group because of that) but to see him live and up close left me in total awe. I can listen to every song over and over and it never gets stale.
It is all so bittersweet now, seeing and hearing these Gods of Rock and wondering how my parents could have been so cruel as to keep me from the experience. It also made me feel so sad and empty at knowing he is gone, because he truly was the greatest drummer that has ever lived, in my humble opinion. I recall being in total awe and that feeling has only grown throughout the years.I have every Led Zeppelin song loaded into my ipod and each and every day as I exercise it is the mighty Led Zep that has kept my figure nice & tight all these years.lol. It blows my mind that the same band that I was forbidden from hearing is still as popular today as it was then. And my workouts would not be so effective if I didn't have Achilles Last Stand, When the Levee Breaks, Kashmir or Trampled Underfoot getting my adrenalin flowing.
This DVD is absolutely awesome and fills me in on what I missed in my younger years. There has never been anyone like them and there never will be, and their work is timeless.I love the entire DVD set, but what blew me away was John Bonham performing 'Moby Dick'. I gave this DVD 5-stars but really, I would give it more if I could.This is the closest thing to a time-machine, and I know I will be watching it again and again.
This is great music and definitely worth purchasing, still after watching this video I have to share that it soon becomes painfully apparent that the ego of Page, personal animosity, or whatever makes seeing any footage of JP Jones in action almost comically absent. After a bit it becomes a game where you keep telling yourself, they've got to cut the cameras over to Jonesy for this part, but it don't happen. You would think he was a leprous session player even in songs like Achilles Last Stand that feature a central & immortal bass line. I enjoy seeing the whole band in action, but apparently Jimmy is worried that someone might discover there is another person on stage playing a stringed instrument and playing it well. Great music, but not a gracious video. Does no one else notice this.
